Breed Notes (Our Dogs - Craig Hosie) - 20 Oct 2019
Ann Travis kindly sent information about our Breed club show. I was sorry I couldn’t attend this year but I had a bitch due to whelp that weekend so I was very busy with mother and babies. I really look forward to our breed club show and it is certainly a high light in my year to meet up with old friends and make new ones. It is always nice to see our young stock that breeders produce and to look at imports and see how as a breed we are improving and looking to the future. The last 6 months has been a bit of a roller coaster ride for myself and my family and only managing to attend one CH show this year and that was Border Union and it was nice to see the photos that Mark Harrison took. Onto the show,

Ann sent the following,

The club held its annual show at Oswestry show ground. The weather was kind and mostly dry, apart from the odd shower which was never enough to hinder judging. Our breed judge Gill Stockton found her Best in Show in Mick Murphy’s Castlemary Druid and reserve Best in Show was John and Elaine Sharpe’s Quincebois Tulipwood by Pines C Dex. The full results can be viewed on the Hovawart club of Great Britain website.

Along with the breed show there were good entries in the 3 special classes judged by Bill Molton, the 4 limited obedience classes judged by Elinor Anderson , the 2 limited mock rally classes judged by Sabine and Jay Kanaria and the Kennel club Good Citizen judged by Maureen Taylor. It was lovely to see such a good entry with remarkably few absences.

A special thank you must go to Bethan Hughes, Our Dogs Photographer who so kindly honoured her commitment to us by attending despite having to miss showing her own dog at the Newfoundland of the year show.

It was great to see the show running so smoothly and it must be acknowledged that this is only due to the hard work of the secretary Liz Whitmore, the committee and all the other helpers who gave their time both on the Saturday afternoon to help set up and on the show day.

Thanks Ann

Craig Hosie
