Breed Notes (Our Dogs - Craig Hosie) - 18 Nov 2018
Catching up with show results, firstly we had Richmond CH Show with Mr Jeff Horswell ( Drakesleat ) taking centre stage with a good classification of 10 classes and an entry of 8 with no absentees, and he found his BOB in the Bitch , Kanukalos Burletta, a B&G owned by Mr & Mrs Mclure with BD going to Kanukalos Rhapsody owned by Paula Foakes with Reserve BD going to Hightimbers Tuppence owned by Mrs Woodger and in Bitches the reserve spot was Lucy Campbell’s Micona Juliet with BV going to the Blonde Bitch Hightimbers Penny Owned by Mr & Mrs McLure. There was no puppies entered. Well done to all.

Darlington CH show had Mr B M Croft judging the breed with 9 classes and an entry of 15 with 6 absentees with BOB being a repeat of Richmond with Mr & Mrs McLure’s girl Kanukalos Burletta taking top spot with BD & BP going to Farmwatch Snow Shadow owned by Mark Tyerman & Gina Challoner with reserve BB going to Gill Stockton’s Annvad Lady Hazel and RBD going to Fasskoleys Mathan. Best Veteran went to Mr & Mrs Mclure’s Hightimbers Penny. Well done to all especially Mr & Mrs McLure who are on a role with their girl. Driffield had no classes but Mark Tyerman & Gina Challoner with Farmwatch Snow Shadow was first in Puppy Dog in the AVNSC Working & Pastoral under Mr Dave Killilea. Well done, good result and great experience for your puppy.

Ellen & Thomas Gutjahr sent me the results of South Wales Kennel Association where Mrs Leana Lewis had 4 classes with an entry of 18. She found her BOB in the Blonde Bitch Zwartbos Arreton owned by Thomas & Ellen who also took the BD with their B&G, Driftingsky Dusk with RBD going to Zwartbos Moonshine Whiskey owned by Janice Robinson and Dave Brown. RBB went to Gill Stockton’s Annvad Lady Hazel with BP going to Mr & Mrs Hemsworth Hightimbers Travel Ticket. This was a great entry with this show being close to our club show. Many Thanks to Ellen & Thomas for sending the results to me and congratulations to all on the cards.

Our club show has been and gone and I for one would like to thank our hard working committee for putting on an excellent show and Liz our Secretary for being so organised it ran like clockwork. Our Judge this year was our clubs President Mr Jeff Luscott who had a good entry and was so helpful to our beginner handlers giving them help and advice to get the best out of their dogs, this made handlers feel more relaxed and confident for the future. His BIS was John & Elaine Sharpes B&G girl, Pines Flash Bang Wallop with RBB & RBIS going to Mick Murphy’s B&G Girl Hayaklause Molly, well worth the journey from Ireland. Best Dog and BOS went to Bettina & Andrew Williams Blonde dog Driftingsky Arcus with RBD going to Mick Murphy’s B&G Micona Foxtrot. Best Puppy went to Pauline Thompson’s Hightimbers Master Ticket and Best Veteran was John & Elaines Pines Acorn CDEX,UDEX. A very well done to all and a super win for John & Elaine, as the entry for the club show is on par with crufts, these being the shows with the most Hovawarts entered. Full results and critique is on the clubs website. Hester Oxborrow was judging the Special awards classes and had a good entry and I really enjoyed stewarding for Hester and again critique is on the website. What’s special about our show is that our handlers enter not only the breed classes but the obedience and Rally classes and the KCGCD scheme classes that are scheduled with many trying out these disciplines, so a very well done to all. It was lovely to see OUR DOGS Photographer Bethan Hughes present to take photos of the winners and catch that special moment and being available for owners to get a photo of their own dog, there is a feature on the show being published in OUR DOGS, I for one can’t wait to read the article.

Working & Pastoral Breeds of Scotland held their CH show at Edinburgh with Mr G Gray taking centre stage with 3 Hovawart’s present. Best Bitch and BOB went to Kanukalos Burletta owned by Mr & Mrs McLure and BD & BP went to Mark Tyerman’s & Gina Challoner’s Farmwatch Snow Shadow and RBB went to Gill Stockton’s Annvad Lady Hazel. Well done everyone for supporting the classes, It was my weekend on shift hence why I didn’t manage along.

The results so far from the Our Dogs and Arden Grange Top dog Awards we have Kanukalos Burletta taking top spot, Mr & Mrs McLure must be really happy, they have had such a great year in the ring with their home bred girl, such an achievement, well done.

Next week I will go on and talk about members achievements with their dogs.
