Breed Notes - 17 Jan 2012
The postponed committee meeting was finally held on Sunday, at our house here in Herefordshire, and we were delighted that Anne brought with her the 12 week old black bitch puppy that she has kept from her recent litter. Her name is Lady Farica, although to be honest she didn’t exhibit much that would earn her that title…she was rough-and-tumbling with Little Dorrit in the yard, a joy to watch, but was duly respectful of great great aunt Limerick. Anne said she travelled really well, she had to look round from time to time to be sure she had her in the car! She also handled her first sight of chickens with equanimity, and rubbed noses with Peddlar, the calf, like old friends. All-in-all a super temperament, Anne should be really pleased, and it is good to know that she will be out and about at the shows later in the year. I shall watch her with great interest.

Plans are well forward for the IHF Conference weekend in October. Janet and Maggie have done a lot of work on the infrastructure, and everything is coming together well. We discussed various ideas, and one that “hit the spot” was for there to be an organised walk on the Saturday afternoon, so that dogs could be settled during the gala dinner, as well as it being an activity that everyone could join in, even if they have no desire to compete with their dog during the weekend. John reported that the fund we started for the event was healthily placed, and that with a couple of pushes during the year, we should be well able to cope with the costs.

Talking of fund raising (although that is by no means the primary purpose of the day), Maggie’s Training day is getting booked up, so if you are interested don’t delay in getting in touch – her telephone number is 01483 853042. It’s at Worplesdon Memorial Hall, Perry Hill, Guildford, Surrey. 10 am till 4pm on Saturday, January 28th. John will be there with the stand and I will be in charge of the Tombola. I know how to enjoy myself!! I hope you all entered Crufts this weekend, as the dates for entries have now closed. One tends to leave it until Christmas is over and then it’s a mad panic at the last minute. Working day is Saturday 10th March this year, which should make for a good crowd around the ring, well, we can always hope.
