Breed Notes - 28 Sept 2010
We had our first frost here in Herefordshire last week, that’s a sure reminder that the club show is just around the corner, and I’m always amazed when the first weekend in October comes around so quickly each year. It falls on my shoulders to look the Judges’ lunches, not an easy task with none of the usual kitchen facilities, (like a cooker, for example), but thank goodness for steamers and slow cookers, which only require an electric socket and an extension lead!
We have a good entry of dogs, a great band of helpers, a “breed specialist “ judge from Finland, a fully stocked hovawart memorabilia table, complete with 2011 calendars and dairies, so all we want now is a bright dry day, and coach loads of enthusiasts….. with raffle prizes, please!!
Stella Coombes (Mystarz) judged a good entry of dogs at Bedford and District Canine Society Open show at Moulton College Equestrian Centre, Northampton, last Sunday. Stella was one of the candidates at our Judging Seminar many years back, and it was great to see her actually judging us. For once we were in the ring by 12.00 and in good time for the working group. BOB was Pines Acorn. The venue was most suitable for a dog show, with a very larger indoor arena, and there were even student prices in the restaurant (canteen).
