Breed Notes - 23 Feb 2010
Sue Scully judged us at the National Working & Pastoral Open Show at the Sports Connection, Coventry last Saturday, February 20th. It was her first judging appointment and she had a super entry with only two absentees. BoB went to Dave and Anne Travis’s Annvad Carefree Princess. RBoB was Gill Stockton’s Annvad Celeste Lady and BP our Pines Acorn (the only puppy there!). Sue looked happy and relaxed in the ring and everybody seemed pleased with their places in the line-ups. It’s so nice to be judged by somebody actually “in the breed”, something that doesn’t happen very often. So frequently we are tucked in at the end with a judge that was there anyway, judging some other larger breed, and more often than not an allrounder. John took a red backpack which had the club accounts in it and left it beside the ring. True, he had delivered the accounts, but the bag would still be there had it not been for a very kind person handing it in, and Ann Arch who telephoned to say she had got it. It’s Crufts next and John will collect his bag then, when I am sure I can find one or two items of shopping for him to fill it with. We still need volunteers for Discover Dogs, please contact Julie Condron on 01253 777186 if you think you and your Hovawart can help, particularly for Saturday afternoon and Sunday. If you are coming to the AGM please let Liz or Lynne know, as it helps to have a rough idea for the catering. Phone them on 01159841870. I guess it’s the ghastly weather, but I have never worn a best of “posh” wellie boots out in 6 months before. I seem to have them on all day every day at the moment. I wonder if I could get them replaced.
