Breed Notes - 25 Feb 2009

It was National Working and Pastoral Open Show at the Sports Connection on 14th February – BOB was Anne and Dave’s Berkenbos Annvads Choice. Congratulations to them. Julie is trying to assemble a list of “Gold” Good Citizen winners, so if you have achieved this with your dog, it would be helpful to let Julie know.

At the moment she is updating the photographs for the Discover Dogs stand at Crufts, she is a devil for punishment, and has kept herself very busy during her recent poor health with Hovawart therapy! The Kennel Club also require us to highlight the various health tests we club members undertake before breeding a litter. All in response to that BBC TV programme. No bad thing, and with our small number of dogs I think we all try very hard.

John has returned from Ireland with Orchid after nearly a week, and is off again, this time with Whistle to France. Only time will tell how successful his trips have been. Sad that it may well cost them both their annual trip to Crufts, but you just can’t do everything, and if you want puppies the bitches do need peace and quiet, and Crufts is neither of these things! Limerick at 10 will have to be our flag carrier for both Discover Dogs and Crufts. We will have a house full over that week again this year, with folk staying from Germany, it’s like Christmas again, with every bed taken. Looking forward to seeing the other overseas visitors as well.

Hope to catch up with 3 or 4 of our puppies at the Temperament Test this coming Saturday. I do hope their owners are all being firm enough, as this litter is just 2 years old now, and at this age they can be very boisterous!
