Breed Notes 27.06.16
To catch up with some show results this week. Dundee open show which was held in Camperdown country park is a lovely venue and they had 2 classes for Hovawarts where judge John Ritchie ( Dykebar/Holibell ) gave BOB to Mark’s boy Fasskoleys Mathan, from reports I believe Mark was the only one to have turned up, but a well deserved BOB. At Three Counties CH show we don’t have classes but looking at the results we had Mrs K Allen with Kanukalos Allegro flying the flag for Hovawarts in the AVNSC Working & Terrier classes under Mr M Armstrong , and was placed 2nd in Junior dog and first in Post Graduate Dog, so a very well done to both dog and owner. This does help get our breed noticed. The next show that took place was Border union CH show held in Kelso where breed specialist Gill Stockton was centre stage with an entry of 17 with 3 absentees, and found her BOB in the dog owned by Mark Tyerman , Fasskoleys Mathan a 10 year old B&G with reserve dog going to Mins Blonde boy Minches Chief Riever. In the girls It was Mins B&G girl Fasskoleys Silkie who took BB with reserve going to Gina Challoners blonde girl Isalynn V Elderens Hof, which made the journey from down south a worth while trip for Gina. The Best puppy went to Anne Stewarts Fasskoleys Magenta who travelled all the way over from Ireland, another worth while trip. Anne certainly did well as she bred both the BD,BB and BP. It was lovely to see Gill getting a good entry. In the rare breeds classes under Mr David Guy ( Donzeata ), Anne stewart got the RBB with IR CH Fasskoleys Carmel Murphy and repeated her BP award with Fasskoleys Magenta. Mr & Mrs Robinson & Brown was also placed in the Rare breed classes with Zwartbos Moet winning PGB, with other Hovawarts getting well deserved placings so a very Well done to all. I had been looking forward to going down and catching up with everyone , however work took over and I ended up on shift for the weekend , however I managed to have a chat will Gill who said she really enjoyed her day. This weekend seen Blackpool CH show taking place and it is another CH show who took classes away from us however we had two hovawart owners present representing the breed in the NSC WORKING/PASTORAL and both took the top honours with Julie Condron’s Zwartbos Carisbrooke taking BD and Zwartbos Moet owned by Mr & Mrs Robinson & Brown taking BB and BOB. I believe this was Julie’s dog Gunner’s first outing in 2 years at a show, so very well done to both owners on their success and to their breeder Val shone who will be very happy. On chatting to Val today who is at home with Chale and who is waiting on the arrival of puppies and states that Chale is very settled and is looking well with a lovely plump tummy, so exciting times ahead for Val and Steve this week. At least the weather is a bit cooler which does help with pregnant bitches who are at the end of the pregnancy and ready to give birth. With regards to puppies , I report that a lovely litter of Ten puppies were born at the Annvad Kennel , owned by Ann Travis and Dave Southwell with the colour distribution of B&G and black, with two dogs being B&G. This is a big litter and I believe bitch and puppies are doing well and so is Ann ! I am looking forward to going down to visit , but hopefully this time I can spend more time with the pups and it won’t be a flying visit. I hope to catch up with Ann and will let you know more about the pups in my next notes. Congratulations to Hester & Murray Oxborrow from Belgium Who with their Ned/Lux/Bel CH, Int CH, CIE Kadanz van’t Beversnest has got top honours at the Belgium Hovawart Club show winning BIS , and I believe she is the club winner for the third time running, The judge was Stefan Damer from Germany ( Vom Gut Grone Kennel of Hovawarts ), and I believe their young bitch Ostata,( Ostara van de Hoevemeester ) got first in her class with other Hofmeester dogs getting first and second places in their classes . Best Male in show was Armani von Steilen Hang who came from vetran and this dog has been used to introduce new lines in the UK by the Annvad kennel. So excellent results and well done. To finnish with, a request for photographs for the Hovawart calendar 2017 which is going to be put together by Julie Condron. The Theme is your hovawarts in action, doing their favourite thing etc. If you can send photos to Julie Condron , I am away on holiday for the next 2 weeks , so if you have any news can you send me an email and I will pick it up on my return.
