Breed Notes - 6 Jun 2016
This week I bring more sad news that Linda Blackwell died at home surrounded by her family and their lovely hovawart Megan. Linda bred Hovawarts under the Tydbreye affix from her lovely b/g girl Hofmeester Butzi Barnebarn. Linda had been involved in the breed for such along time and the last time I met Linda was at the club show in 2013 where she was showing her girl Zwartbos Sandown . I believe Linda was battling with cancer for a long time. Our sympathies goes to Her husband John and their family.

It was Dundee open show this weekend and I am awaiting results as we had two classes. We had to pick from going to Dundee show or going down to support the gathering of Dandie Dinmont terriers at the Haining in Selkirk where the breed came from. ITV was filming the Dandies for the programme A life of Dogs by Martin Clune. Our poppy was filmed jumping through the butter cups . It was the Irish Hovawart club show the weekend of the SKC, 22nd May with Raila Nieminen from Finland judging with an entry of 25 Hovawarts. BD and BIS was Mick Murphy’s Castlemary Druid with RBD going to litter brother Castlemary Duke owned by Brid O ‘Sullivan. In the Bitches , Min Inches girl Fasskoleys Silkie got BB with reserve going to Anne Stewarts litter sister Fasskoleys Carmel Murphy. It was a great day for Min which made it a worthy trip from Scotland as she also picked up 1st in veteran dog with Chief , Minches Chief Reiver and first in Veteran bitch with Larney, Minches Kees Kilarney. Well done to all and a full list of results are on the Hovawart club of Ireland website.
