Breed Notes - 10 May 2016
Sorry for the lack of notes, but life has been a bit hectic lately. Firstly we will catch up with show results starting with Working & Pastoral Breeds of Wales of which John & Elaine with their three Hovawarts and Mrs Robinson & Mr Brown with their hovawart made the entry of five with one abscentee present for Mrs J Peak who found her BOB, BB going to John & Elaines young girl Quincebois Tulipwood by Pines whos Pines Acorn from Open class took the Reserve Best Bitch and their Young boy Junior Jester of Pines took the Best Dog. Mrs Robinson & Mr Browns Zwartbos Moet won her Post Graduate class in breed and also went onto win Best Bitch in the Rare Breeds working class under Mr Kinsey. Well done to all. This weekend seen Birmingham national with six breed classes for judge Mr Hans Van Den Berg who found his BOB, in the Bitch Isalynn V Elderens Hof owned by Gina Challoner , a very well done Gina, I hope to try and speak with someone who was at the show to confirm the other awards and report back next week, He had an entry of 15 with 4 absentees present which is good for our breed at Championship shows today, yet 11 years ago at this show our numbers were in the 30’s as Caileag was a puppy at this show, YES I can’t believe she is coming up for eleven this month, doesn’t time fly, but she still acts young and is certainly still top of the pack, giving the younger dogs a run for their money ! and likes to keep them in order. We took Caileag down to see Ann, her breeder and she just loves to give Ann & Dave kisses and cuddles. We had went down to see Ann’s litter of pups, it was a flying visit but the two plus hours was worth it , with a combined drive of seven hours, it really did put me in the notion to try and think about my next hovie and when would it be a right time for me to get one. Ann’s pups were as usual beautiful, friendly, lovable, bright and healthy with Ann making it look easy, but it is hard work thats gets puppies to be this good. It is the year for puppies as My friends have all had litters, I have been too see 3 litters of Golden Retrievers and a litter of Akitas. With the joy of birth as pups are born we also have the aspect of dog ownership we all dread and that is when we have to say goodbye and I received an email from Christine Bolton who had Solly with the sad news she had to make that decision to let her go. She was 13 years old and I had the privilege to have judged her at the club show last year. What a super girl she was and I know Christine and family are missing her very much. She was bred by Julie Condron and her posh name was Hofwarth Devonsent. Our thoughts are with you Christine. Next week I will report back from Perth open show which has one Hovawart class. I am looking forward to going and hopefully catch up with Min, Mark and Heather.
