Breed Notes - 28 Apr 2015
The programme for the Breed Seminar and Hands-on Assessment, to be run by the Club on Sunday June 14th, at Nesscliffe Village Hall, near Shrewsbury, has been set, with a start at 9.30 for coffee and biscuits, with an exposition of the breed standard staring at 10.00. I think there will be plenty of time for discussion and questions before lunch at noon. The hands-on session starts at one, with a finish scheduled for about 3.30. Lunch will need to be pre-booked, so contact Ann Travis by email at annvad@aol.com as soon as you can, as places are limited, particularly for the afternoon session.
Some awful news from Ireland, our Dublin’s brother Harvey, out for a family walk to celebrate his first birthday, was running, full of joy, across an old building site when he hit a metal rod, just left in the ground. It pierced his chest, and he was carried blood streaming, to the vets, where he was immediately operated on. Fortunately the rod hadn’t damaged any vital organs, and despite a ghastly looking wound, Harvey is recovering, although his parents, Casper and Ruby, find him rather strange with his Elizabethan collar and a large drain in his wound. What a dreadful experience for owners Kathy and Stephen. How easily could that happen to any of our dogs. Our thoughts are with them all.
Another sad email came in this week, when we heard from Maureen Watson that her dear old Clyde, who is Orchid’s brother, and so is now over 13, is failing. A decision will have to made soon, but he has had a lovely life, and has been a great ambassador for the breed. The Watson family will have lots of lovely memories to help them through the sadness.
Only just over a week now to go till Poppy and her siblings make their public debuts at the Birmingham National show….heaven help us all! Perhaps this is a good place to offer congratulations to Nick Boisseau and Gaia for getting their KC Good Citizen bronze award. I am in awe of them, Poppy and I are some way from even considering taking the test.
