Firstly, I find we are missing the results and entry details for the National Working Breeds Open Show held at the Sky Connexion LAST February, 2020, just before Covid….if there ever was such a time !! I think we haven’t needed to find out because last year’s Tobias Trophy was declared null and void as a result of most of the shows being cancelled. So if anyone was there, or has a catalogue from that show, please get in touch (details below).

I thought it was only us humans who found the idea of their parents’ intimacy awkward and embarrassing, especially when we were teenagers, but it looks as though the hovawarts feel it too. Yesterday, Kibble, towards the end of her season, was “standing” for Remus, who, although he has been castrated for a while now, obviously has a long memory, and was trying to take advantage of the opportunity, when from some distance their daughter, Thursday, now just over two years old, but still quite juvenile, rushed on to the scene and broke up the “party”, with a most disapproving look on her face. We chuckled for quite some time over this prudish behaviour.

We have just got home from The National Dog Show, normally held in May, at Stafford. We had a lovely big ring, with both sun and shade, as it was half covered. It was a pity that we followed Boxers, and that it was day 4 of the show, because the ring was littered with uneaten titbits, and nose-on-the-floor rather spoils good movement. Happily, for us this is such a usual occurrence that all the exhibitors had their own little tricks to get those heads up. Today’s winner was Paula’s Kanukalos Rhapsody, pipping his sister K.Burletta for top spot. He was the sole dog there, but in bitches our Quincebois Tulipwood by Pines was RBB, with Janice’s Zwartbos Moet once again BV. Our judge was Ann Ingram, and she had really nice weather, not too hot with a gentle breeze. Amazingly it is our first venture back in the ring for about two years, and was an ideal way to resume. We even had a rather smug feeling passing the queues at the petrol stations, having filled up early in the week.

This time next week, it will be the club show…..hope to see you all there
